A January Catch-Up
And in the blink of an eye, it’s the end of January…
Is anyone else looking back at this time last month and missing being deep in the middle of a sofa-pigs-in-blankets-not-sure-what-day-it-is coma?
It’s been a busy month (when is it not?!)
Clients got back into the swings of things quickly following the Christmas break and we are seeing a lot of progress already. For most, we have started to build out roadmaps and look at what we can achieve in the next few months as we move into spring and summer. We have a few clients taking on their EPIC (Every Persons Individual Challenge) in the summer so the work has already started in preparation for that.
On a personal note, the big news in January is that I’m returning to the gym floor. Granted, it’s only for a few hours a week but I’m really looking forward to stepping back into the personal trainer shoes. Although there is a crossover between coaching and personal training, I do think they are two different roles and thinking about it, I haven’t done a full week of personal training for four and a half years so I’m sure it will take a few sessions for me to find my rhythm again.
My ambition, long term, is to do a mixture of coaching and counselling with a few sessions of personal training thrown in for good measure. I do think the roles complement each other but on a personal level, I think it would allow me to have a really varied and interesting work week.
The new role also gave me permission for new training gear and trainers :)
Away from work, I seem to have watched more TV in January than I did in the whole of last year!
How good was the Traitors? I was Team Stephen from the start so it was good to see him go the whole way. I was pretty convinced Rachel was going to throw him under the bus towards the end. If my lottery numbers come good anytime soon, I’m thinking we get 25 people up to Ardross Castle for three weeks and play our own Traitors game. Who’s in?
I’ve also caught up on The Night Manager recently and I’m now having to wait for Sunday and the final episode of the series… On demand is great until it isn’t on demand…
And if you are looking for a good film for the weekend, I highly recommend The Ballad of Wallis Island.
My despise of social media continued last week with the whole Brooklyn Beckham drama. Part of me thinks that if social media didn’t exist, then he wouldn’t have been able to post what he did and it would have been dealt with privately (which feels like a much healthier thing) That being said, he probably felt backed into a corner and felt like he needed to say something. I appreciate the Beckhams do put themselves in the spotlight and it’s all part of the show business circus but at the heart of it is a son who has fallen out with his Mum and Dad. It’s sad for everyone involved that it’s being played out in the public eye. The fanfare it’s caused on social media is all a bit odd.
Looking ahead, I’ll have a slice of cake for 33 years on the planet next week. The juggling act of coaching, studying and personal training will also begin.
I will, of course, let you know how I get on.
See you next week.
